Read the government file for the 2010 investigation
If you searched for “Utah Ranch files PDF,” the direct route is DOW-UAP-D174, the Utah Ranch Investigation Report. The 60-page public record contains fieldwork summaries, interviews, measurements, illustrations, and laboratory correspondence. You do not need to buy a book to read it.
Use that file to check the exact wording of a witness account or the results of a sample test. The portal account is on PDF pages 13–14; the hair analysis and interpretation are on pages 37–38. A later retelling may omit qualifications that matter when judging the claim.
Two books for readers who want more context
These are optional reading choices based on their subject matter and bibliographic information. This page is a source-selection guide, not a claim that we have personally tested products or independently verified every account in either book.

A practical way to compare a book with the files
- Write down the specific claim. A sighting description, a laboratory identification, and an explanation such as “portal” ask different questions.
- Look for a date and source. Separate when an event was reported to have happened from when a witness was interviewed, a report was written, or a book was published.
- Return to the cited record. Check whether the book points to an interview, original photograph, measured result, or another retelling. Several repetitions of one account are not several independent observations.
- Keep the uncertainty. Redacted names, estimated dimensions, and gaps in a sample’s history remain limitations even when a narrative is vivid.
Our creature visualization guide follows the same approach: an illustration can help picture reported features while remaining a fictional rendition. The book links here are separate from the primary-source citations.
Bibliographic sources and buying notes
Simon & Schuster’s publisher page identifies Hunt for the Skinwalker, its authors, and the 2005 paperback edition. Amazon’s linked product listing identifies the authors and title of Skinwalkers at the Pentagon. Check the retailer’s current edition, format, price, and delivery details before purchasing. We do not quote live prices or imply a sale is available.
Buying either book is optional. A purchase is not evidence that any extraordinary explanation is correct, and our affiliate relationship does not make the books official government records.
